Was in the area for a few days and needed a place for breakfast and did a search on Yelp and found this place. Was a bit hesitant when we first pulled up but decided to go in. Very small but big on taste. We shared the 4 egg chorizo omelet with pancakes. Was so light and fluffy and full of flavor. Staff was friendly and prices were cheap!! So good we returned the following day for breakfast too. On July 4th they even gave out flags to customers!

Why didn't my wife and I like this place better? For a small place, it was jam-packed on a late Saturday morning, forcing us to wait in a very small space, in front of the Coke machine. It took a while before we were recognized as being there. A space did open up, and a server tended to us rather quickly. But they were busy, those servers. Enough that they forgot our toast and I went to get it from the front counter. It happens, I get it. But shouldn't the food have been better? It wasn't exceptional. My wife's Greek omelet may have had too many veggies (especially onion), which could be a good thing for non-egg-lovers... but then again, non-egg-lovers don't get omelets. My country skillet had the thinnest slices of breakfast sausage I've ever seen, about the thickness of a nickel. No clue how they did it, or why they did it. It was okay. At a sorta-okay price. The outer inch of the rye toast was inedible. The butter, which was already placed on it, helped. But what if I didn't want butter? The coffee was nothing special. It was, you know, OK. Eh, maybe I'm trying too hard to find why I was whelmed (not underwhelmed or overwhelmed) with our experience. This place routinely gets five stars here, and I wanted to have that, but it fell short for me. We'll be back, maybe. I don't know. Whatever.

Amazing ham and cheese omelet!..definitely coming back again..the staff here is great and the restaurant is very clean which means a lot to me because I had dirty restaurants..I have had a lot of omelette around Chicago land area and this is definitely one of the best

Another place I have driven by for the past 5 years and decided to stop in due to Yelp reviews. Wanted to try a different breakfast joint today. I'm married to a real New Yorker that has a dislike for places called 'pancake houses' and prefers diners...which can make it difficult to find non-pancake house named establishments. You cannot dislike the name of this place!!! Plus it quite cozy inside, seats maybe 40 people with country music playing in the background. Very clean and great service. They have the regular breakfast items with an array of egg dishes, omelettes, pancakes and such. Coffee, black coffee is what I always get at a new place. I like to have it black first to see if I like it as even poor tasting coffee can be spruced up with some cream and sugar. The coffee is great. It's not thermonuclear hot either. Ordered up the bacon omelette with buttered rye toast that came with a side of hash browns. The hash browns are not the tiny shredded type, they are more like thin shavings of potatoes. The rye toast was killer and slap some bacon omelette on a hunk of it and that makes for a delicious breakfast! Plenty of crisp bacon through out the omelette with even amounts of cheddar cheese. This is a great place for breakfast and I am defiantly going to come back and try some of their lunch items.

Impressive. Just left here with my wife for breakfast. Before I start with the food, let me go backwards and address the service. The waitress, who was the daughter of the owners, was very nice. She thanked us for our wait & had an overall pleasant attitude the whole time. She was also very efficient. It was full in there, she was by herself, and she worked every table fluidly. Our food came out really quick. On to the food. I got the corned beef hash skillet and my wife got the meat lovers skillet. The taste was great and there was plenty. We left stuffed and had some for leftovers. Overall, this is a great little family owned business gem that I'd be happy to return to.

Love this place! Usually come here for breakfast with my boyfriend. Every time I've here the place is busy but you always get good and speedy service. This is a low key place for good breakfast.

I've been meaning to write this review for a quick minute. The foos is fantastic! The servers are all really awesome. The place is extremely small, but can br overlooked bc the food was just that good I ordered the Mexican steak. It had eggs, jalapenos, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, hash browns, and obviously steak. The meat was tender and good. It was enough food for me me to make a couple meals outs of. My aunt ordered a basic breakfast. Eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and good. The place is definitely one the BEST breakfast spots around. Its small and comfortable. I highly recommend stopping in I'd you're in the area.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. Was looking for a place to meet family for breakfast. Checked the area and picked this place based on reviews. Almost drove passed the place because it is very unassuming. Don't let the small dine-in area scare you off. When we got there, the place was pretty busy for it's size and appeared understaffed. I had thought about heading elsewhere. We got a table and quickly received coffee, which was very good. The staff was very quick & friendly. A good selection of breakfast foods. My Corned Beef Hash Skillet was excellent (sorry, I don't waste time taking photos of my food). The hash browns in the skillet were actually sliced potatoes and browned, very excellent. There was enough to take leftovers home. My family all enjoyed their meals also. Glad I didn't decide to go elsewhere & would definitely go again.

It is definitely a small place. The waitstaff was very agreeable but the food was bland. I tried the taco salad which lacked a sufficient amount of meat. I also tried the Cajun chick wrap, I found it to taste more like vinegar and herbs, not Cajun. The breakfast is probably where it is at. I thought the biscuits and gravy were lovely.

You know this place is good if there's a line out the door to get in. Always worth the wait.

This place is awesome. Wish we had something comparable in Toronto. All the other reviews are accurate and I really don't have much to add. Great service, I was treated like a regular and made very comfortable. Mexican vegetarian skillet is truly amazing. Will definitely return next time in Chicago area

Food was average breakfast food..pros the steak skillet had alot of steak and it was good quality. Cons..the place looked like it needed cleaning and smelled musty.

  • R J.

The food is decent, certainly nothing special or extraordinary. Cleanliness of tables and coffee cups is subpar. (Food scraps, and odor from server wipe rags that are rancid) It's a very, very small restaurant with no waiting area- so expect to wait outside for a long time, and if you're on a table by the door, expect a blast of wintery air or have someone's behind in your face as you eat. Servers are inadequate. Two servers handling 11-12 tables. When we did catch their attention, for things like coffee refills or anything else- it took far too long before they remembered to come back. Prices are cheap. Coffee is so-so tasting. There are definitely better options in the area.

Honestly, fabulous b-fast. Not a huge place. About a dozen tables. The service staff, primarily the owner's family, were fast, accommodating, and friendly. They handled our high-maintenance group of six with graciousness. The skillets were spectacular. I can personally attest to the skirt steak (pictured) and Mexican. Prices very so reasonable. Quick /free top ups on the drinks. Bookmark this place.

  • Susan S.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! Great food, great service, and reasonable prices. Anything I have ordered is FANTASTIC. I highly recommend: the blueberry pancakes, a Belgium waffle, or whatever the omelette is called w/chorizo, cheese, peppers, and onions. The servers are ALWAYS friendly and working hard. The restaurant is small, so you might have to wait for a table, but they turn quick! Definitely worth the short wait. (Not good for large groups.) Sometimes you might leave a little smelly due to poor ventilation, but it's a small price to pay for delicious breakfast!

My dad wanted to take my family and my boyfriend out to dinner - we were meeting them, and I ended up here instead of where he intended (some place across-ish the street). Whoops! We all agreed it was a happy mistake by the end of our brunch. It is a tiny small place with eight or so tables and four or so booths crammed in. I kind of like the homey, cozy feeling but it *was* a little cramped with our party of six. Our server was very friendly and made several trips to check on coffee refills, etc. Coffee refills are very important to me! I got a Mexican hash with scrambled eggs, chorizo, peppers, onions, tomatoes, cheese, and hash potatoes. This came with a side of toast (love that they have whole grain as an option). Very tasty and extremely filling. I couldn't finish everything. Overall, everyone was very happy with their choice. Boyfriend had a sticky bun that they toast on the grill and slice up. I tried a bite :) :)

Surprisingly great. We were on the hunt for a "greasy spoon" breakfast place. This spot this not disappoint. Waited about 20 min to be seated which was shocking but was mostly due to the lack of seating. Staff was friendly, solid service. Skillets are amazing and the rest of the menu is way above average. Pricing is also on par with the rest of the cheap breakfast places. Go try it, you can't go wrong.

    (4)
  • Mike M.

Quaint and affordable. I have been here three times and look forward to my next visit. The only real draw back is that seating is limited and very tight.

  • Andrew W.

I go here every time I can. It's a pretty small place but I don't like big places anyways. The staff is real friendly and the food is consistently good. I always get the chicken florentine, it's freaking delicious!

This place is a hidden gem! Saw this place had great Yelp reviews so we stopped in on a whim. Wow! As an out of town visitor, this was a great find. Everything my party had was wonderful, from pancakes to omelets to skillets! The place is small though, so if you come at peak times be prepared to wait a few.

This is by far my favorite breakfast place anywhere! I love the size and how comfortable you feel when you walk in. The people who work there are so friendly and really want to make sure you have a great experience. The food is amazing, I can't get enough!

Looks a LOT bigger from the outside. It's a cute little breakfast spot. I got a Skillet, and it was good!! If you're looking for a quiet little breakfast spot that's not very high traffic, I would recommend this place for sure!! Enjoy!!

  • Sharon R.

We were in the area and we of course found this gem on Yelp. This is a 12 table breakfast place that has a great breakfast menu with lunch specials. The special today around noon was a Mexican burger with jalapeños and spicy Mexican cheese. But we wanted breakfast. The off the bone ham and eggs were delish. It was served with toast and potatoes. The coffee was strong and hot. Our server was friendly and never forgot about us. The bill was under $20! We will be back for the omelet next time. We saw them and they look great.

We've been coming here for a few years now and it is always awesome. Best meatlovers skillet around. We really should try other things because I'm sure it's awesome but we are so stuck on the skillet. Service is always great and extremely friendly. Awesome family owned restaurant. Only wish there was a way to expand the restaurant a bit, but the quaint size makes it even more if a rare gem.

Oh. My gosh. Best Breakfast Ever!!!! Holy cow what I wouldn't give for one of these in Florida. I had the Mexican skillet that came with 2 pancakes that were melt in your mouth good. My boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and scrambles eggs. You know those places that serve what tastes like freezer pack hash browns? This is NOT that place. Amazing, crunchy, fabulous hash browns. Also the wait staff are lovely. Every single one of them. I recommend everyone in the area, or just passing thought like myself, give these people your business!!!

Sure, it's a blink-and-you'll miss it diner. Seriously, I've ridden or driven past here zillions of times and never noticed it. Now that MCC has moved within walking distance, I go past it even more often. Still, I needed Yelp to point it out to me one day when I was hungry and wanted somewhere to sit, eat lunch, and quietly read. The coolest thing about this place is its cozy B&B-esque ambience. You go into the place and it's tiny -- wood chairs and tables that are polished, but slightly scarred -- like you'd expect to find in your Granny's kitchen. The day I went, sunshine was streaming through the windows in one area. "Sit anywhere you like," the host told me, and I made a beeline for that sunny window. The food is simple, tasty diner food. I had the Mexican skillet, and unlike a lot of skillets, it wasn't so ginormous that it could have fed a family of four. It also wasn't priced like a skillet that was so ginormous, it could feed a family of four. I liked that. I had pancakes as my side, which were nice, light, and fluffy. It's a simple, honest diner with more coziness and charm than a lot of fancier places. I wouldn't advise bringing a large group here, because it will get very crowded very quickly. But if you're by yourself and you need something brunchy, this is totally a good place to go.

I enjoy a Saturday morning breakfast while moving around for work. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a shot because of the high reviews. When I pulled up, my first thought was "this place doesn't look like much". I'm glad I went inside. The food was great. I thoroughly enjoyed a meat lovers skillet.

Fantastic lil breakfast place. And the price cannot be beat. Everything you could possibly want on the menu. Staff is nice and fast. It's a small place so you may have to wait or to-go orders are an option too.

Omelette House Grill is a very small breakfast/brunch restaurant located off of St. Charles Road in Villa Park. There are a few strangely angled parking spots around the building and two doors that enter in though one is right near some of the tables and is clearly more of an exit than an entrance. Inside are a few tables, a counter to pay. And a kitchen area behind that counter. They have a menu consisting of a number of egg dishes, pancakes, and then some lunch food with burgers, chicken sandwiches and some other items. When I walked in I was told to pick a clean table and sat down at the nearest one to me and was soon handed a menu. I decided to order a skillet with pancakes and within a few minutes my order was ready. The skillet I received had a lot of egg and cheese, it had good quality bacon and sausage. The real knock on this skillet was the soft and somewhat bland potatoes at the bottom, a lot of places add cooking oil, seasoning and or crisp up the potatoes at the bottom of the skillet. Here it was just soft potato mush. The pancakes were good. These pancakes had powdered sugar on top and were thick but not particularly wide pancakes. The syrup was thick, sweet and a nice compliment. Overall Omelette House Grill is a solid breakfast establishment. I would eat here again, it stands out as the smallest pancake house I've visited so far. I give it an average rating of three stars.

Prices are really good for the quantity - $6-$8 bucks for a four egg omelette. We had the Greek omelette which didn't really have any flavor but with salt, pepper, hot sauce and ketchup was a lot better. Only thing I have to say is that they rip you off by charging you $1.50 if you share a plate.

Although the air conditioning could be a little better in this summer heat, this is definitely the place to go if you want a good hearty omelette at an affordable price. The skillets are to die for as well.

  • Petar D.

Ma and pa place, not fancy. Perfect for me. Felt like home. Great food all four times I've been there. Will be back for sure. Only reason it's not 5stars is because I'm not an egg fan. And would think substitutions for hash browns would be fair.

  • Jim L.

Great breakfast and lunch place. If you are on the go and want a nice home cooked breakfast or lunch just give them a call order tell them you want to pick it up and it's ready in no time. Or dine in and enjoy the nice cozy atmosphere. It's family owned and operated and this family really takes care of the customer! If you live in the area and haven't tried it yet your missing out!

I have driven past the Omelette House Grill almost every day for the past year, wondering what it was all about. Could a tiny place like this have good food? The answer is yes. Yes it can. We had a hankering for some breakfast Sunday morning and felt like trying somewhere new. There is a good amount of parking around the house. Came in through the back door. Wasn't really sure if it was a order at the register and they bring it to you kind of place, or if you get waited on. One woman saw me looking around, confused, and told us that we can sit down and a waiter would be right with us. The inside is homey. Not a ton of seating, Out there weren't a lot of people at the time so it didn't feel cramped. We sat at a two-person table though, and thought it was cute that you have to put some stuff on the ledge next to the table to be able to fit things. We ordered some water and coffee as we perused the menu. Pretty basic breakfast items and some lunch items as well. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and toast. My fiance had a chorizo omelette with the same sides. We did have to wait a bit for our stuff to come out, mainly because its a small place and they don't have a ton of cooks making it, but hey, I didn't have anywhere to be. It wasn't a terribly long wait either; just slightly longer than say Bentley's Pancake House or a bigger diner joint. I thought it was cool that you got to see the cooks through the window, not that I was going to stare at them the entire time. Our waiter was awesome. He was incredibly attentive, always checking to see if we wanted more coffee and always bringing more water when we needed it, without having to ask. Even another woman who wasn't our waiter told us that if we needed anything, we can ask. It made me feel so welcome and really shows how far good service goes. The food was good. I could have used a bit more cheese on my omelette, as it was heavy on the ham, but it was still good. I would definitely come back here and I'd like to try some of their other menu items. I'm glad we finally made our way here. New breakfast joint for sure!

Thrilled. You know that warm feeling you get when you are in a cozy little restaurant eating a tasty breakfast drinking never ending cups of coffee on a lazy morning slowly devouring some heart stoppingly bad for you egg creation. Well this little place heats me right up. Small child and I got an unheard of Sunday morning to ourselves and ended up here for a late breakfast. It was warm cozy and wonderful. The food was good the atmosphere was excellent.

Tried The Omelette House this past weekend. First off, there are only 12 tables, most for four and a couple for two and the space is tight. Service was fast and very friendly. We ordered Biscuits & Gravy and a Skillet and it was ready in 3 minutes. I don't know if that's the rule or the exception but I've never been served that fast anywhere. The quality of the food was what I expected. The quantity was more than I expected for both of us. The gravy for the biscuits was seasoned perfectly for what I like. Usually up north it's always too peppery but theirs was in the just the right spot. As we left there were 3 small groups of people waiting for tables but it's expected for the size of the place. Also, there's no waiting area inside so you're outside waiting. For most it's probably no problem but for those with small kids it could be since you're basically waiting in the parking lot. So, I don't know if this is my definitive breakfast spot but I'll definitely be going back.

Thought we would grab a bite to eat while we were waiting for our jewelry and what a great idea! We asked for lunch recommendations and she said the Rubens were very good and any chicken item since their chicken is moist and delicious. So we ordered both to share. Homemade chicken soup which came with the meal was really good. And the sandwiches were delicious! Definitely give this place a try!

Awesome!!! Very, very small but what is really nice people offer to share tables making it a new experience each time! The wait staff is incredible and very on top of your bottomless coffee cup. Looks to be a family run operation but I didn't confirm. The food was great, love the skillets and the potatoes are real and sliced fried, yum!!!!!

This place makes me miss the Tierra Grill. I went in for a little breakfast with my 2 year old on a Thursday morning around 9 and most the seats had already been taken and I walked up to the counter and asked if I pick my own seat or would they seat me? I didn't get a direct answer until the one and only waitress popped out, and I told her i would like the seat by the corner so my daughter would be out of everyone's way and no one could knock into her (bc of the jammed packed and tight space) But the problem was it needed to be cleaned off still so she told me she would clear it up, which after seating other customers who came in after me she did, but I still had to get my own menu which she courteously got for the other people she seated. She asked If I needed a high chair too, I replied with a yes please, then I sat there waiting for a high chair for several minutes.. i had already decided what I wanted to order and I watched her get distracted with other guests, phone calls, and juggling other tasks before I finally stood up to look around the place for one, couldn't find one and then asked the guy behind the counter if I could still get the high chair please, and then he yelled at her asking if she was going to get that for me and she yelled back to "wait, hold on, I'm getting it" and at that point I felt like I was just wasting my time and felt like it was going to take an hour just to get some service and a freaking omelette. Severely understaffed, poorly ran, and also I didn't like that I saw a woman in the kitchen Cooking with One hand around HOT equipment WHILE HOLDING A YOUNG TODDLER in her other arm. I got my winter gear on and daughter and was walking out the door when I saw that the guy was taking out the high chair finally, and I told them to just never mind. Not going back there again.

Frenando is hands down one of the best griddle masters in the Chicago metro area. You won't go wrong ordering any breakfast item off the menu, and he has substantial portions of fresh sliced jam off the bone at great prices.

Delicious food! The omelettes are made with four eggs, so they're very large. Prices are quite reasonable for the portions you get. The waitress we had was very sweet--the whole business is family owned and operated. If you're in the area, you must stop! You won't regret it.

Four stars for the food, the menu, the prices, the service, prices, quantity of food, prices... Seriously a lot of food and even if the portions were less generous it would still be a bargain. Family owned place, mom, pop, and son work it. Cons - small place - and awkward table arrangements. I've been here many times and love it. I feel very comfortable as a solo diner

It is a fun little breakfast place. It has great, affordable food. The waitress is nice and fun. The portions are large and they are fast. I try to eat there once a week. It's a great greasy spoon breakfast/brunch place. It's a great addition to the neighborhood. I love the hobo skillet!

My wife and I have only gone once based upon reviews and the comment of a neighbor. The price is low, but the food is only average at best. It is a small restaurant and nor as nice inside as most of the other breakfast restaurants we visit. The service was friendly.

  • Greg T.

Great place for a cozy and delicious breakfast. As mentioned by other reviewers, it is obvious the waitress really enjoys her job and gives off a very friendly and positive vibe to the customers. The menu is quite diverse for the small restaurant, and you certainly get your money's worth no matter what you order. A plus for me is that you can plainly see the cook and how he carefully makes the food on the grill, unlike other restaurants where you have no idea what they do with the food before you get it. A true gem of a place - my favorite breakfast spot in either Villa Park or Elmhurst.

Good omelette. Nothing crazy special about. Very neat atmosphere, and very friendly staff. Place was decent if you are looking for breakfast especially since Kopper Kitchen closed down.

I've been going to this restaurant since they opened, and despite what another reviewer said about it being overpriced compared to other surrounding restaurants, that is absolutely not true. Where can you can an omelette for $5.25, including great potatoes and toast or pancakes?!? There's no other restaurant that charges that amount around here. I've been to all the others, and I'm back here with my husband at least once a week. The owners are very friendly and never fail to greet you when you come in, and the service has always been attentive and friendly. I've had mostly breakfast items and have never been disappointed. My husband has had the tuna melt and reuben and he enjoyed both. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I have to say, honestly, myself my spouse and my twins went there for breakfast on a Sunday. Tho the service was good, the food was middle of the road...the rueben was way smaller than i have gotten in other surrounding town restuarants for more money. The skillet meal was very dry and definetly higher priced than any other family restuarant i have been in recently. Tho the omelets were very tasty , again overpriced. These pricing are considerably higher than HiView, Rainbow, and what used to be Copper kitchen...if the portions were the same size ( larger) than the other restuarants nearby i would choose omelet house bc of the more quaint atmosphere. Overall, i think 2 stars, says it all, get their act together and they will be successful, if not they will flounder like alot of other businesses in VP. VP does not have enough to offer to keep my business from headng to Lombard, Glen Ellyn or Elmhurst. Even the grocery store here in VP is higher and the quality less than that of competing or similar grocers in the surroundong towns. I take most of my business to other towns, VP is too pricey and not worth it. Sadly, this omelet house will not be my choice for a nice breakfast or lunch.

This place is awesome. Wish we had something comparable in Toronto. All the other reviews are accurate and I really don't have much to add. Great service, I was treated like a regular and made very comfortable. Mexican vegetarian skillet is truly amazing. Will definitely return next time in Chicago area

Whatever.

  • Dan B.

Although the air conditioning could be a little better in this summer heat, this is definitely the place to go if you want a good hearty omelette at an affordable price. The skillets are to die for as well.

Ma and pa place, not fancy. Perfect for me. Felt like home. Great food all four times I've been there. Will be back for sure. Only reason it's not 5stars is because I'm not an egg fan. And would think substitutions for hash browns would be fair.

Amazing ham and cheese omelet!..definitely coming back again..the staff here is great and the restaurant is very clean which means a lot to me because I had dirty restaurants..I have had a lot of omelette around Chicago land area and this is definitely one of the best

Been there many times. The food is consistently delicious. Busy on the weekends but seldom crowded on the week days. The seating is a little tight when packed. Always friendly. Very reasonably priced for such generous portions. A favorite place for me. Hobo Skillet is the bomb.

Quaint and affordable. I have been here three times and look forward to my next visit. The only real draw back is that seating is limited and very tight.

Whatever.

This place is a hidden gem! Saw this place had great Yelp reviews so we stopped in on a whim. Wow! As an out of town visitor, this was a great find.

Oh.

This family owned diner is amazing. The food is fresh and fast and they are friendly. I especially love their homemade salsa and veggie skillet.

Good place. Reasonable priced food. Good service. Kinda small on the inside but I have never waited for a table. It's my go to in the area for breakfast

Fabulous breakfast Today. Real friendly staff and prices as reasonable as they get. Cannot wait until we have business in the area again to stop.

Great breakfast place for sure! I have stopped in twice in the last month and have been very impressed with the service and food. Best skillets I've ever had.
